What should I do if I’m no longer receiving push notifications on my device?

New! You can now find notifications for 2-step verification in your Scotiabank app. Just sign in to the app to approve or block any attempts to access your account. (Note: If you set up 2-step verification using the iTRADE or Wealth Management apps, this feature isn’t available yet.)

You can also try these troubleshooting tips to continue receiving push notifications.

Reset 2-step verification
If you recently switched devices, replaced your card, re-installed the app, or changed your device lock, resetting 2-step verification can refresh the connection.

If you have the mobile device you used to set up 2-step verification, the fastest option is to reset it from that device:

  1. From the More menu, go to Sign-in and security
  2. Select 2-step verification
  3. Select Deactivate, then follow the prompts to confirm
  4. Select Activate 2SV to turn it back on

Remove 2-step verification
If you don't have the device you used to set up 2-step verification, you'll need to remove 2-step verification and reactivate it.

To remove 2-step verification:

  1. Go to scotiabank.com and select Sign in
  2. Select Need help signing in?
  3. Select I am not getting 2-step verification (2SV) push notifications
  4. Enter your username or card number and password
  5. Confirm the device you’d like to remove 2-step verification from
  6. To continue, download the Scotia app again and set up 2-step verification to sign in from your new device

Check your device settings

Open the settings on your primary mobile device (the one you used to set up 2-step verification) and ensure that:

  • App notifications for Scotiabank are on
  • Do not disturb and focus mode are off
  • Flight and airplane mode are off
  • You’re connected to WiFi or data
