What happens when I register for 2SV on my mobile device, delete the Scotiabank app, and then try to sign in from an untrusted device?

Note: Deleting the Scotia mobile app will not remove 2SV protection from your account.

If you delete the Scotia mobile app from your primary device (one that is recognized by Scotiabank) and try to sign in from an untrusted device, you won’t be able to sign in. This is because you must remove 2SV from your primary device first.

To remove 2SV from your primary device:

  1. Go to scotiabank.com and select the Sign in button
  2. Select Need help signing in?
  3. Select I lost my 2-step verification (2SV) device
  4. Enter your username or card number
  5. Correctly answer the security questions
  6. Confirm your device

To continue, please download the latest version of the Scotia mobile app (from the App Store or Google Play) again and set up 2SV to sign in from an untrusted device. You should then be able to sign in to online banking.
