How do you transfer money to a bank account in another country?

You can send money across the world with the Scotia app or in online banking. Look for the Move Money menu. International money transfers are free for newcomers with the StartRightTM Program (exchange rate still applies). Subject to daily limits and additional terms and conditions as set out in the Scotiabank International Money Transfer Agreement.

You can also send wire transfers bank to bank. You’ll need to go into the branch with the following information:

  • Currency
  • Beneficiary name and address
  • Beneficiary bank and location
  • SWIFT or ABA number (if you have one)

Transferring money to your International Account

Before you arrive in Canada, visit your local bank to make a wire transfer to your new Scotiabank International Account. You’ll be able to review and download the account details from the Welcome Hub.
