What's the difference between a partial and full withdrawal from my registered account?

For Scotia iTRADE accounts:

A partial withdrawal removes only the portion of funds that you have selected from your account. Your account must have enough cash available to cover the full amount being withdrawn.

A full withdrawal removes all funds from your account. To make a full withdrawal, your account holdings must be fully liquidated into cash. The funds from sell orders that are filled today will be available on settlement date. In the case of a full withdrawal (excluding TFSAs) your account will be closed. For TFSAs, the amount withdrawn (full or partial) will be added back to your contribution room in the following calendar year.
