What should I do if I'm incorrectly charged for something?

If you think you’ve been incorrectly charged for merchandise or a service, here are a few things to look out for:

  • Check your receipts: Some merchant names and locations are different on statements, and transactions can also be posted a few days after the date on your receipt.
  • Ask any authorized users on the card if they recognize the purchase.
  • Check the Terms and Conditions for free trial offers: Sometimes trial offers automatically enrol participants into paid monthly subscriptions unless they are cancelled before the identified date.
  • If a recognized merchant, such as a gas station, has charged you more than the transaction amount, it may be authorization for a larger amount. Please wait until the transaction has been posted as it will likely reflect this difference.

Whenever possible, it’s best to try and resolve the issue by contacting the merchant directly before initiating a dispute.
