What happens when I register for 2SV on my mobile device, delete the Scotiabank app, and then try to sign in from an untrusted device?
Note: Deleting the Scotia app will not remove 2SV protection from your account.
If you delete the Scotia app from your primary device (one that's recognized by Scotiabank) and try to sign in from an untrusted device, you won’t be able to sign in. This is because you must remove 2SV from your primary device first.
To remove 2SV from your primary device:
- Go to scotiabank.com and select Sign in
- Select Need help signing in?
- Select I am not getting 2-step verification (2SV) push notifications
- Enter your username or card number and password
- If you're prompted to answer security questions, correctly answer the questions
- If you're prompted to enter a verification code, get the verification code we sent to your phone number and enter it
- Confirm the device you’d like to remove 2SV from
To continue, please download the latest version of the Scotia app (from the App Store or Google Play) again and set up 2SV to sign in from an untrusted device. You should then be able to sign in to online banking.
