What does a negative balance on my credit card account mean?
When you make a purchase on your credit card, your balance owing goes up and shows up as a positive balance on your statement.
However, a negative balance on your statement means that you have an additional amount credited to your account. You don’t owe anything, and the negative balance will be applied towards your next purchase.
You may see a negative balance on your statement if:
- you made a return on a purchase and received credit back
- you paid more than your balance owing on your statement
