What are the differences between the Physical and Digital Tokens?

To secure your access to ScotiaConnect, Scotiabank uses multi-factor authentication. Two security tokens are offered as the third factor. A physical token or a digital token. Both will generate a token value that must be supplied as part of your ScotiaConnect login.

Physical Token:

The Physical Token is a disconnected physical key that you will use to generate a token value by pressing the button; the token value will display on the screen. Each user's initial token is provided at no cost, but lost or extra tokens do have a replacement fee.

Digital Token:

The Digital Token is a mobile app. You will run the app and it will generate the token value, also if you are using the ScotiaConnect Mobile app it can supply the value directly to the app. The digital token is also available free of charge.

Note: There is no difference in functionality or security between the two tokens.
