You can have a Scotiabank Preferred Package for Students and Youth account as long as you’re living in Canada and younger than 23, or you’re 23 or older and enrolled in a post-secondary program with a Canadian school.

Once you’re 23 or older and not a student anymore, your student account will get converted to the regular Preferred Package and while your card number and account will stay the same, we will begin to charge the monthly account fee for the Preferred Package. But if you keep a minimum balance in your Preferred Package, you may qualify for a monthly fee waiver.
