How do I recategorize a merchant or purchase using Scotia Smart Money?
There are two ways you can recategorize (or “reclassify”) a Category for a specific transaction:
Option 1:
- From the app’s home screen, tap the relevant account
- Select the transaction you want to change
- You’ll see transaction details for your selected transaction
- Select the category
- Choose your new category
- You can choose to change the category for all future transactions from this merchant
- Tap Update category
Option 2:
- From the app’s home screen, tap Advice+
- Tap Cashflow, Budget, or an insight
- Select the transaction you want to change
- Choose your preferred category from the drop-down list
- To assign this category for all future transactions from this merchant, check Apply to similar future transactions
- Tap Update
Your credit card rewards don’t change if you reclassify a merchant transaction in Scotia Smart Money. Your transaction under the account for that merchant will remain the same.
