Are there limits on how much of my credit limit I can use for cash transactions?
To help protect both you and Scotiabank from fraud, we typically place a cash limit on Scotiabank credit card accounts which can be a portion of your credit limit that can be used for “cash” transactions such as cash advances. That means for cash advances including cash-like transactions.
These cash limits are not applicable for balance transfers including if you have received a promotional balance transfer offer.
Remember that Scotiabank may still decline a transaction if we suspect fraud or for other reasons. We may change the cash limit amount you can access from your credit card account without notice, as set out in the terms of the Scotiabank Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to credit card accounts.
What does a cash limit mean? See below:
For illustration purposes:
- Your credit limit: $10,000
- Amount owing: $0
- Credit balance: - $6000‡
- Cash limit (available): $3000 (30% of credit limit) for cash advances including cash-like transactions
‡ Note: Your cash limit is based on your credit limit even if you have a credit balance on your account.
