What does it mean to lock a card?

If you’ve misplaced your personal Scotiabank Visa or American Express card, the Scotiabank card lock service gives you the ability to temporarily lock your card in app:

  1. Select My accounts, then your credit card account
  2. Select Manage
  3. Under Settings, select Lock or unlock card

You’ll see details of payments that may go through on this screen, including interest, annual feels, and any payments you make to your account. All new transactions, both online or in person, will be declined. Depending on your card, you may still be able to use your mobile wallet.

Once you find your card, you can unlock it in the app. If you think your card is permanently lost or stolen, you can lock your card and call us to cancel it and get a new one.

If your chequing account, savings accounts, debit card, or Mastercard is lost or stolen, please call us or visit one of our branches.
